Is it just me or does end of year come around faster and faster every year!!! Term 4 is just about upon us and somehow, it’s already time to start thinking about end of year celebrations, graduations and teacher gifts!! So, we have compiled our easy end of school year cake kit ideas for you.

With 3 girls only 4 years apart and a pretty noisy personality I was always the obvious choice for class coordinator. Which meant I was also usually in charge of end of year teacher gifts and treats for the kids at the presentation! One year I had 2 of the presentations in one morning. I literally ran from classroom to classroom delivering speeches and handing out treats!
But I must admit I loved those mornings. All the kids hugging in tight for the end of year class photograph, with banter and “in jokes” memories from a year of hanging out together. The excitement that the year is over mixed with the nervous energy of wondering what next year will bring.
I have this one photo of my middle girl Emma, crying her eyes out in her little smock and mortar board the kindy had dressed everyone up in for graduation. “what’s wrong sweetheart?” I asked, expecting her to say she was sad to leave all her friends and teachers. “I don’t like black! I want a pink hat!” she replied pleading through the sobs. It took me all my strength not to burst out laughing.
In 2018 I watched my eldest daughter graduate from high school, and I thought I’d never stop crying! An overwhelming mixture of pride for the woman she had become, sadness that she was all grown up and disbelief at how quickly the years had passed, in the chaos of parenthood. One thing I know for sure (thanks Oprah) is that you need to truly take in all of those special milestones. Find a way to pull your mind away from the craziness of life and really be present in those moments of celebration. It sounds easy enough but it’s not always that simple.

This DIY Classroom Cake was inspired by my obsession with our existing Bookworm Cake. I loved the idea of a teacher’s pet cake style. I am so in love with the little worm on that cake that I decided he’d look super cute on an apple!!
